This informational picture book demands attention and will please anyone who appreciates the distinct changes of each season no matter where they are or how those seasons appear. The images are irresistible and enable readers to appreciate the natural wonders of the world in a unique way. The other areas that are depicted here include Alaska, the Yellow Dragon Valley of China, and Australia's mangrove forests whose inhabitants are very different depending on the seasons. Other terrain such as the Arctic and the Kenyan Maasai Mara don't necessarily experience the same seasons in the same way, but may go from cold to colder and dry to wet, respectively. Thus, a European oak wakens from its slumber to put forth new sprouts in spring, spreads its leafy branches to provide a home for various animals in the summer, finds its leaves turning bright colors in the autumn, and then lies bare under winter's snow, four distinct seasonal changes that are described alongside information about the flora and fauna found during those periods. Six different places on the earth are spotlighted in its pages as they decrease in size.
